Safety guide
Most buying and selling on StyleLoop goes smoothly. Because payment, delivery and collection are arranged directly between members, a few simple habits keep it that way.
In plain words
- Meet somewhere busy, in daylight, and check the piece before you pay.
- Post with tracked delivery and keep proof of postage until the buyer has it.
- Use payment methods with protection. Never pay strangers by bank transfer, gift cards or crypto.
- Keep chats on StyleLoop, and report anything that feels off.
1. Collecting in person
- Meet in a busy public place such as a café, shopping centre or a station with cameras. Many police stations also offer safe exchange spots.
- Go in daylight, take a friend if you can, and tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Avoid sharing your home address. If someone must come to you, have another person at home and meet at the door.
- Check the piece, size and condition before any money changes hands. It is fine to walk away.
- Keep valuables and cash out of sight, and trust your instincts.
2. Deliveries and posting
- Use tracked postage, and signed-for delivery for higher value pieces.
- Take photos of the piece and the sealed parcel before you post it, and keep your receipt and tracking number.
- Only post once payment has fully cleared in your account, not when you receive a screenshot or email.
- A parcel locker or pickup point lets you post or receive without sharing a home address.
- Buyers: open parcels promptly and message the seller straight away if something is wrong, with photos.
3. Paying and getting paid
StyleLoop does not take or hold payments. You agree how to pay with the other member, so choose carefully.
- Prefer methods with buyer or seller protection, or cash on collection after checking the piece.
- Never pay by bank transfer to someone you do not know, and never use gift cards or cryptocurrency.
- Ignore requests to overpay and refund the difference, or to pay through an unfamiliar link.
- Be wary of fake payment confirmations. Check your own banking app before handing over or posting anything.
4. Spotting scams
- Pressure to move the chat to another app, text or email straight away.
- Urgency, sob stories or prices that look far too good to be true.
- Refusing to meet, show more photos or answer simple questions about the piece.
- Asking for personal details such as codes, passwords or bank logins. StyleLoop will never ask for your password or sign-in code.
5. Your details and photos
- Share only what is needed: a first name and a public meeting point are usually enough.
- Check listing photos do not show your address, post, car registration or other personal details.
- Keep your account secure with a strong, unique password.
6. Reporting a problem
If a member or listing seems unsafe or dishonest, use the Report option on their shop or listing, or email hello@styleloop.co. We review reports and can remove listings or suspend accounts.
If you have lost money to fraud, contact your bank straight away and report it to Action Fraud (actionfraud.police.uk) in the UK, or your local police elsewhere.
7. If you feel in danger
Leave and go somewhere safe. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK, 112 in the EU, or your local emergency number.
